What duties does a maid of honour typically have?

A maid of honor is an important and special role in a wedding. Not only does the my help the bride shop for, plan, and coordinate many of the wedding day details, but she is usually the closest friend or family member to the bride. As such, she has many roles and responsibilities to uphold during that special day.

At a minimum, a maid of honor will help out with wedding day tasks from the rehearsal dinner to taking care of the bride on her big day. She will also attend meetings with vendors and help organize them for the wedding day.

Closer to the day itself, a maid of honor will also assist in putting together favors or decorations, organizing and setting up seating plans, gathering up inspirational photos for decor or other aspects of planning such as meals or photographs. She must also ensure that any bridesmaids are dressed properly and ready when it is time to walk down the aisle. During the ceremony, she should line up bridesmaids behind her so they can walk properly down the aisle with both parties united before joining at altar.

Additionally, if requested she can run errands or pick up items needed for weddings events or serve as an emcee during announcements if needed. Afterward, a maid of honor may be responsible for collecting cards and other gifts as well as giving any thank you 'toast' at either rehearsal dinner, reception or bridal showers if requested by Bride.
